Fall Fire Hydrant Flush Occurring Tuesday

Freehold Borough fire hydrants will be flushed out all day Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Low water pressure maybe experienced today as a result of the Fall flushing of fire hydrants.

An email from Freehold Borough Councilman John Newman explained that from 8 a.m. on today, all hydrants in Freehold Borough will be flushed out. The email explained that flushing takes place two times a year and helps maintain the water quality in Freehold Borough’s distribution system. It also ensures that each fire hydrant works properly.

According to the email, residents may notice low water pressure and water discoloration while the hydrants are being flushed. However, the discoloration is not harmful and should clear up after the water runs for a few minutes.

USE COLD WATER TO FLUSH OUT THE DISCOLORED WATER! you do NOT want this water running into your hot water tanks.
