Freehold Boro, Township Earn Over $75K in Clean Community Grants
The two towns were among several in the area to earn grant funding for litter abatement programs.
Both Freehold Township and Boro were two of several District 11 towns to earn Clean Community Grant funding, the office of State Sen. Jennifer Beck, R-12, announced Monday.
Freehold Boro was awarded 15,091.55 and Freehold Township $60,426.05 for litter cleanup and beautification projects.
"We are proud of the efforts made by our constituent municipalities and applaud their efforts to keep their towns clean," Beck said in a statement. "A clean town is attractive to potential new residents and businesses."
The funding, intended for litter abatement programs, was furnished by the State Department of Environmental Protection. The New Jersey Clean Communities Council endeavors to change attitudes responsible for littering and the irresponsible handling of solid waste, according to a release.
