Freehold Man Accused of Assaulting Officer

Incident occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 6 in Freehold Borough.

 

A Freehold man faces three charges after he allegedly assaulted a police officer in Freehold Borough.

Joses Melendez, 26, of Lockwood Avenue, has been charged with assault, resisting arrest, and possession of an imitation weapon. According to the complaint warrant, Melendez had a small silver plastic handgun concealed in his waistband on Tuesday, Nov. 6. When the officer was arresting Melendez, he allegedly pulled away from the officer and kicked him in the ankle.

Melendez has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $27,500 bail for all three charges.
