Freehold Man Arrested for Attempted Burglary of Downtown Restaurant

He was allegedly found trying to break into the refrigerator behind the Metropolitan Cafe.

 

Freehold Borough Police arrested a Freehold man for allegedly trying to steal goodies from the Metropolitan Café.

According to the complaint warrant, Darren Whiting, 44, tried to pry off the lock of the rear refrigerator and storage facility at the downtown restaurant.

Police documents say Whiting is charged with criminal attempted burglary and possessing burglar tools including a backpack filled with 3 types of wrenches and wire cutters. Whiting was allegedly using these tools when he was found trying to break-in.

Whiting is scheduled to appear in court on March 27 at 1:00 p.m. His bail is set at  $5,000.
