Freehold Man Indicted on Attempted Burglary of Downtown Restaurant

He was allegedly found trying to break into the refrigerator behind the Metropolitan Cafe.

 

A Monmouth County grand jury indicted Darren Whiting, 44, of Freehold on one count of attempted burglary.

According to the complaint warrant filed on March 20, Whiting allegedly tried to pry off the lock of the rear refrigerator and storage facility at the Metropolitan Café.

Police documents say Whiting was found with burglar tools including a backpack filled with 3 types of wrenches and wire cutters. Whiting was allegedly using these tools to try to break-in when he was found by Borough Patrolman Nicholas Iozzi.
