Freehold Township Police arrested a Neptune man after he allegedly forged a check and attempted to put it into check into circulation.

Marqwell Nichols, 21, of 7^th Avenue, faces two charges following the incident that occurred on Friday at the TD Bank on West Main Street. According to the complaint warrant Nichols attempted to pass a check that had a forged name on it. The warrant states that Nichols knew the name on the check was forged.

Nichols is also being charged with uttering a bad check. On the same day, Nichols allegedly attempted to put a check into circulation that was linked to a fraudulent or closed account. The bad check was written in the amount of $750.00.

Nichols was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $5,000 bail.
