UPDATE: No Injuries Reported From WaWa Robbery

Surrounding towns assisting with search

The Howell Police Department is searching for a suspect in the robbery of the WaWa at the intersection of Route 9 and White Street Monday night.

Capt. Andy Kudrick said the robbery happened around 9:45 when a suspect described as being a white male, around 5-9 with facial stubble with curly or 'afro-like' dark brown hair approached an attendant inside a kiosk at the fueling station.

Kudrick said the man was wearing a black zip-up "hoodie," and held what was described as a steak knife to the attendant's throat while demanding cash. After getting the cash from the attendant he fled in a dark colored vehicle believed to be a Subaru BRZ or a Scion FR-S that was black or purple.

The attendant was not injured during the incident according to Kudrick. Another attendant watched the car as it drove away near White Street and got a partial view of the license plate which they said had the last characters of possibly CAA or CAH.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Det. Anthony Romano at 732-938-4575 ext. 2879.

Three robberies (that we know of ) so far this month. This on top of all of the other breakin's that we have had recently. This is scary. Makes me wonder how Police Officers are losing their jobs. WE need more, not less!!

Police cannot protect everyone, nor can they be everywhere at once. A "legally" well armed citizenry is the only way to discourage these types of incidents. Harsher penalties and mandatory (meaningful) jail time, should also be impossed on individuals who commit crimes, period. Our current judice system, has failed to be a major deterent.

Agreed Mauro! A good criminal is a dead one. Why do we let these people out in the first place. Most of these criminals are repeats and, have been arrested for something at some point. Put them in jail and keep them there.

Mauro: You want to arm Wawa gas jockeys? It's not even their money! Half the time, these type of robberies are "give-ups" or inside jobs.

Doesn't Wawa have cameras everywhere? Where are the pictures of the suspects?

I thought the same thing. At least show a photo of the car - someone might recognize it.
