Human Relations Group to Present Award

Award named in honor of former chairperson will be awarded to Asbury Park Volunteer Coordinator.

The Monmouth County Human Relations Commission (MCHRC) will present its second Earl Thomas Teasley Humanitarian Award at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, at the . The recipient will be Colleen Volpe, Volunteer Coordinator for The Center in Asbury Park.

Ms. Volpe coordinates volunteers at The Center in Asbury Park, a resource for people living with HIV/AIDS. She creates innovative ways in which volunteers can help with the mission of the center. Her pure heart and tireless efforts are a strong example of humanitarianism at its best. 

Earl Teasley, for whom the award is named, was the chairman of the MCHRC at the time of his death in April 2010. Teasley was a noted advocate for social justice, a beloved counselor and an assistant professor at Brookdale Community College.
