Man Allegedly Assaults Officer with Soda Can

According to the complaint warrant, the man hit an officer in the leg with a full can of soda.

 

Freehold Borough Police arrested a vagrant man in Freehold after he allegedly threw a full can of soda at a police officer.

Stephen Bumgardner, 53, of Freehold, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 17. According to the complaint warrant, Bumgardener threw a full can of soda at a uniformed Freehold Borough Police Officer while he was conducting a lawful investigation at the liquor store on West Main Street.

The can of soda allegedly hit the officer in the leg.

Bumgardner faces one charge of assault. He has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $2,500.
