UPDATE: Outages Hit 10,000 in Freehold
Outages tripled in Freehold since 3:45 p.m.

JCP&L has been preparing for Hurricane Sandy for days, but, outages have been steadily experienced since this morning.
Outages in Freehold have tripled since 3:45 p.m. according to JCP&L's outage map. At 3:45 p.m. there were 2,508 outages in Freehold Township while Freehold Borough had 19 outages. In the last hour-and-a-half outages have tripled for a new high for the day. The map currently shows that 8,053 outages are in Freehold Township while Freehold Borough currently has 1,900 outages.
Outages began in Freehold around noon when 38 people were without power in Freehold Township and 297 were without power in Freehold Borough. At 2:35 p.m. the outages rose as the map showed 1,244 outages in Township and only seven outages reported in Freehold Borough.
After an Emergency Management meeting on Friday, Freehold Borough Mayor Nolan Higgins told Patch that residents should call JCP&L if your power goes out.
“Even if your neighbor is going to call you should call too so that JCP&L can know how many people are being affected,” said Higgins.
On the Freehold Borough website, residents are being asked to not call 9-1-1 when power goes out, instead, residents should call JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).
