Really? It's almost like some people try to create controversy. Is it so hard to keep church & state separate? There are plenty of churches in Freehold; can't everyone who wants to pray just pray in their church?

If one would read the Constitution, one would find that it says the United States will not favor one religion over another. It does not say that the government cannot participate in religious activities, or cite religious belief as a source of ethics or inspiration to do right. The request was made by townsfolk, not the government. Seems the only controversy here comes from folks who don't like the idea of people having free speech and asking for lawful assembly. A course in constitutional law may be helpful to understand that this is what America is all about. If you don't like this, don't attend. That's your right.
