Property Manager Accused of Stealing Condo Association Fees

Theresa Tierney was indicted Monday on two counts.

Theresa Tierney, 59, of Oakhurst, was indicted Monday for allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from Strickland Farms Condominiums in her capacity as property manager, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release.

Strickland Farms is 380-home condominium complex in Freehold Township along the Howell border.

Tierney is accused of fraudulently opening a bank account in 2003 under Strickland Farms, which is managed by the Solomon Organization, and making herself the sole signatory on the account. Prosecutors say Tierney deposited association fees from homeowners into the account, rather than turning it over to the Solomon Organization.

The alleged theft came to the attention of the management company after several homeowners were informed they were delinquent in paying dues they were actually current own. The management company alerted authorities, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office conducted an investigation that led to Tierney’s arrest on April 21. She was release from the Monmouth County Correctional Institution after posting $100,000 bail.

Tierney was indicted on one count of second-degree theft and one count of second-degree theft by failure to make required disposition of property. If found guilty, Tierney faces a 10-year jail sentence on each charge.

Correction: This article originally stated Tierney allegedly opened a bank account under the name of the Solomon Organization. The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office corrected the original press release, confirming that Tierney is accused of opening a bank account under the name of Strickland Farms, not the Solomon Organization, which is the management company for Strickland Farms.
