Republicans Win Open Freehold Township Seats
Mayor Anthony Ammiano and Tom Cook win open Committee seats.
A new face will join the all Republican Freehold Township Committee in 2013.
Township Mayor Anthony Ammiano was re-elected to the Committee along with newcomer Tom Cook, according to unofficial results from the Freehold Township Clerk.
Before the results came in, Cook joined the Monmouth County Republicans at South Gate Manor to watch the results come in. Before learning that he was elected he explained what his first Election Day as a candidate was like.
“I have never been through this before, I am usually home consistently refreshing the [Monmouth County Clerk’s] result website, tonight I have family sending me updates, it is a totally different experience.”
Ammiano and Cook were up against Freehold Township Democrats Edward Horigan and Ken Sullivan. According to the unofficial results 8,145 residents voted for Ammiano and 7,730 residents voted for Cook. Sullivan came in with 5,176 votes followed by Horigan who brought in 5,029 votes.
