Runner’s High Presents Half-Marathon Training Program
Enrollment for the program is going on now.
Runner’s High has teamed up with an area running coach to go the extra mile with those interested in running a half-marathon.
Runner’s High is one of the area’s top stores for all running apparel and needs, but in February, Runner’s High will also become a half-marathon training center.
Starting on Feb. 11, Coach Brian Shea of Personal Best Nutrition (PBN) will kick off a half-marathon running program designed to condition beginner and intermediate runners for the Long Branch Half Marathon in May.
"This isn't a cookie-cutter program," explained Craig Segal, co-owner of the Freehold Runner's High location. "Coach Brian Shea has coached world champions and local runners. This program is one-on-one based with interaction with [Shea] him."
While the program takes place in a group setting, each member of the program gets a customized training plan made by Shea.
According to the half-marathon training page on the Runner’s High website, each member of the program will get an initial one-on-one evaluation from Shea, a customized 12-week program built around schedule and ability, weekly coached group training sessions and a personal username and password on Shea’s training page. On race weekend, Shea will also be with the runners to take all of the guess work out of the half-marathon experience.
"This kind of program is big for people just getting into racing. There are programs online and in magazines on how to run a half-marathon, but with this kind of program they will have contact with Coach Shea and can get their individual questions answered by him," said Segal.
