Four-Car Accident on Kozloski Road in Freehold
Victim says cars went airborne.
Four vehicles were involved in an accident at Kozloski Road and Center Street in Freehold Township shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Freehold Township police and the East Freehold Fire Company were at the scene of the accident.
Toms River resident Henry Scharff, 68, said he was sitting at a red light and preparing to make a right turn when he observed two vehicles go airborne.
“I saw an orange and black thing coming at me. The path of destruction went right over the top of my car,” he said.
Two of the vehicles flew from the intersection onto the grass of the parking lot at the nearby Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering building.
Scharff said he was the only person from the four-car accident to walk away unharmed.
“There were people lying on the ground bleeding. You can tell from the damage they are very hurt. I could have been killed," he said.
Traffic was backed up along Kozloski Road as authorities investigated the accident. At least three people required medical attention, including one victim who was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The condition of those injured was not immediately available.
The vehicles involved in the crash included Scharff's gray Honda Accord, a black Honda Accord, a black Saturn Vue, and an orange Hummer H3.
This is a developing storyline. Freehold Patch will have more information as it becomes available.
