Freehold Township Committee Opposes Commuter Tax
Township Committee passes resolution that opposes commuter tax for New Jersey residents who work in New York City.
The Freehold Township Committee is looking to protect the wallets of residents who work in New York City with the adoption of a new resolution.
At the Tuesday, July 10 Township Committee meeting, the Committee adopted a resolution that opposes the proposed commuter tax on New Jersey residents who work in New York City.
According to the newly adopted resolution, the Township Committee views the proposed commuter tax as an unfair burden during these economic times to anyone who works in the city while living elsewhere.
The Committee's decision to oppose the proposed commuter tax sides with the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders decision and other New Jersey and Connecticut officials.

Very happy to hear this! We already pay over $100/yr to park at the park-n-ride lot, plus over $300/month for a bus pass. This is enough of a hardship to get into NYC to work.
