FBAC members and President Jeffrey Friedman came to the Freehold Borough YMCA to start creating one-of-a-kind signs for the Freehold Borough Bike Path.

Members of the Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) came to the Freehold Borough YMCA on Tuesday, to begin brainstorming and designing bike signs for the borough.

In March, the Freehold Borough Council adopted a “Complete Streets” policy, which requires the borough to make necessary accommodations for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users. While the borough will received funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) to implement these accommodations, the FBAC came onboard to bring the arts and community into the project.

Tuesday’s meeting at the YMCA marked the first step in beginning the complete streets policy.

“This is only one aspect in a multiphase project,” explained Jeffrey Friedman, FBAC President. “This is a project that has the ability to involve a bunch of different groups and is able to promote the community and bike/pedestrian safety all in one project.”

According to Friedman, once this project is done, there will be over 24 one-of-a-kind signs all around the borough.
