As part of its “Historically Speaking” lecture series, Monmouth County Historical Association is pleased to welcome Kevin Coyne to speak on Sunday, May 20 at 2:00pm. The lecture will be held at the MCHA Museum and Library, located at 70 Court Street, Freehold, NJ 07728. Mr. Coyne will explore the musical legacy of the county that has spawned its own distinctive sound, has nurtured so many notable musicians, and has given the world Bruce Springsteen.
Mr. Coyne is the borough historian in Springsteen’s hometown, Freehold, and has written for a variety of magazines and newspapers, including the Asbury Park Press and The New York Times, for which he wrote a weekly column about New Jersey. He teaches at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, and is the author of several books, including “Marching Home: To War and Back with the Men of One American Town.”
The lecture is open to the public and admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
