American Idol Alum Coming to Freehold Friday

A look at events happening in Freehold on Friday January 24, 2014.

Millions of people are watching the American Idol auditions now and on Friday night they can go to iPlay America to see someone who survived through most of the competition.

James Durbin will be performing a free show at 6 p.m. with special guest Kelley James. After the show is done patrons can enjoy iPlay After Dark which has become a new popular tradition at the Freehold establishment.

There is no snow in the forecast until at least Saturday but the National Weather Service is calling for a freezing cold day across our area. The high on a sunny Friday is only expected to reach 18 degrees which drops to nine below with the windchill. The cold temperatures during the day will help with the low temperature at night which is expected to be around 14 degrees without a wind chill.

The first Boy Scout troop was organized in England on this date in 1908. It was on this date in 1995 that the prosecution gave its opening statements in the murder trial of football hall of famer O.J. Simpson.

Famous birthdays today include singers Neil Diamond and Aaron Neville as well as comedian Yakov Smirnoff. Olympic hero Mary Lou Retton turns 46 today as well.
