Local Communities to Remember 9/11 Attacks

A look at events happening in and around Freehold on Wednesday September 11, 2013.

On what will be one of the hottest days in recent weeks communities around the area will be taking time to remember the tragedy of the 9/11 attacks 12 years ago.

One of the closest ceremonies will be held tonight in Howell at the old Town Hall building on Preventorium Road. “Howell Remembers” is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. The county will hold an earlier ceremony at the Mount Mitchell Scenic Overlook in the Atlantic Highlands starting at 8 a.m. Scheduled speakers include Freeholders Tom Arnone and Lillian Burry. Additional parking will be available at the East Point Plaza with shuttle buses taking participants to the ceremony site.

According to the National Weather Service the high temperature for today is expected to be around 91 degrees during the day on a mostly sunny day. The low temperature tonight is expected to drop down to around 70 degrees with a 20 percent chance of showers. Any rain is expected to hold off until around 2 a.m.
