Saturday Grand Opening Packs a Punch

A look at events happening around Freehold on Friday September 6, 2013.

The Freehold business community will get a little bit bigger and a whole lot tougher this weekend with the grand opening of a new mixed martial arts studio on Saturday.

The Dante Rivera Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy will hold its grand opening in the Chadwick Square Plaza on Route 33 with some big names from MMA scheduled to attend. Starting at noon the event will include a techniques seminar taught by well known coaches Ricard Almeida and Renzo Gracie as well as former UFC champion Frankie Edgar and Tom DeBlass.

If the National Weather Service is correct it should be a beautiful day for the opening as part of an almost flawless weekend. The high for today is expected to be around 70 before a chilly low of 48 tonight. Tomorrow the temperature is expected to rise to around 77 with the wind blowing between 5 and 9 MPH over the course of the day.
