Harveen Dreibelbis-Hayes

Harveen Dreibelbis-Hayes, 62, of Lakewood passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 surrounded by her family and friends at home. She was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania and moved with her family to Hominy Hill Farm in Colts Neck Township where she lived for many years.

She was a graduate of Freehold High School and Curry College in Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She was a teacher in West Freehold School, Freehold Township for 33 years before her retirement. In 1995 as well as 1997 she received the Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award for the Freehold Township Schools.

She helped to write a model and document currently used by the district called Instructional Excellence which sets the guidelines and standards for teacher evaluation.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harvey C. and Constance LaMont Dreibelbis and a brother, Allan Dreibelbis.

Surviving are her husband, John “Jack” Hayes; a brother, Harvey Charles Dreibelbis, Delaware; three sisters, Doris Savage and her husband Ronald, Mechanicsburg, Penn., Constance Mae Dreibelbis, Trenton, and Coral Lee Dreibelbis; a sister-in-law, Linda S. Dreibelbis; two sons, John and Jeff Hayes; and a granddaughter, AshleyNicole; sister-in-law Ann Mazza, and husband Bob, Brick, Martin and Janet Hayes, Forked River, Linda Hayes, and Jim, Bayville, and Gary and Ginger Hayes, Brick; and many nieces and nephews.

Thanks to Dr. Naham and his staff for their understanding and compassion during these years of fighting this horrible disease.  Also special thanks to my sisters-in-law Linda and Ann for their tremendous help in the family’s time of need.  A thanks also to the “Egg Lady Sue”.

Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.  The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Lake R. C. Church, Lakewood on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN or Children’s Cancer Research Fund, PO Box 7006, Albert Lea, MN 556007-8006 would be appreciated.
