Center Playhouse Announces Holiday Line-up

Center Players bring the Holiday Season to Freehold with their rendition of A Christmas Carol and It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.

By combining holiday music, treats, and quintessential Christmas stories, Freehold’s award-winning resident dessert theater company, Center Playhouse, is the perfect “home for the holidays!”

Center Players will host the renown Traveling Literary Theater on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. for a performance of A Christmas Carol. This theatrical rendition of Dickens' little ghost story is fully costumed in beautiful Victorian garb and is headed by the English stage actor James Dyne. Charles Dickens made a fortune on this story traveling throughout Europe and America performing a one man reading of his edited version. The Traveling Literary Theater has taken Dickens' very own edited version and is performing it with a talented ensemble of three actors enacting all of your favorite Dickens’ characters.

Tickets are $12 and include holiday refreshments and desserts. Seating is limited for this special one-performance only event.

Center Players will also be traveling back to the 1940’s and the golden age of Old-Time Radio for five performances of It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play directed by Anthony Greco of Ocean Township. Inspired by the classic holiday film, It's a Wonderful Life is performed as a 1940s radio broadcast in front of a live studio audience featuring onstage Foley sound effects, vintage radio equipment, period costuming and radio commercials all set to the soothing sounds of your favorite holiday standards. A handful of actors gather on Christmas Eve, 1946, to perform the dozens of characters to bring this heart-warming tale to life. The production features Jeff Cox of Brick as George Bailey, Yvette Cataneo of Freehold as Mary Bailey, Jack Rosmarin of Monrganville as Clarence, Jack Welsh of Freehold as Henry F. Potter, and features the talents of Jeff Caplan of Manchester, David Harris of Red Bank, Kasiann Sweeney of Colts Neck, Leslie Hochman of Matawan, Payton Lamp of Tinton Falls, Brooke Salamone of Freehold, Michael & Luke Sweeney of West Long Branch, Hannah Sultana of Ocean Township, Nick D’Ambrosia of Tinton Falls, and Zach Berman of Eatontown.

Performances for It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play will be held on Dec. 15 at 7:00 p.m., Dec. 16 and Dec.17 at 8:00 p.m., and will have two performances on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the show are $23 for Seniors and Students and $25 for Adults.  Ticket prices include special gourmet desserts and refreshments.
