CentraState Hosting Free Kidney Screenings Friday

Event to be held at Star & Barry Tobias Ambulatory Center.

Local residents will have a unique opportunity to learn more about the health of their kidneys with a program being held at CentraState Medical Center on Friday.

The National Kidney Foundation will be on hand offering free kidney check-ups through the KEEP Healthy program. The event is being held at the Star & Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Participants will be asked to complete a brief survey and will have their height, weight and blood pressure measured. They will also be provided educational materials and medical professionals will be onhand to review the results and answer any questions.

Kidney disease reportedly affects one in nine Americans and many have no idea of the risks or warning signs. People with diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of kidney failure are encouraged to attend as are people over the age of 60.
