CentraState Seeking Ball Queen Contestants

A meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 22 will be held for young women interested in entering the Ball Queen Contest.

Following a 1962 tradition, CentraState Medical Center is preparing for its 51st Anniversary Ball and looking to crown their next Ball Queen.

Local young women between the ages of 16 and 23 are welcome to enter into the contest after they retain a sponsor. Typical sponsors include local businesses or civic organizations. The contestants will work to raise money for CentraState’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. Each dollar raised is considered a “vote” for the contestant. The contestant that receives the most amount of “votes” will be crowned Ball Queen at the annual Anniversary Ball on Saturday, Nov. 3.

In addition to being crowned Ball Queen all contestants have an opportunity to apply for scholarships worth $2,000 $1,000 or $500 and will be judged strictly on academic transcripts and an essay. Contestants also stand to win prizes. In the past, vacations, jewelry and make-up have been awarded to participants.
