Freehold Volunteers Recognized by Monmouth County Park System

10 Freehold resident were among those honored by the Monmouth County Park system for volunteering their time.

In 2012, the Monmouth County Park System was lucky enough to receive 1,628 pairs of helping hands thanks to its amazing volunteers.

From sorting donations for Sandy Relief Efforts to assisting during races, these volunteers gave 27,000 hours to the Park System. On Sunday, March 3, the Park System honored these dedicated individuals during its Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony at Hominy Hill Golf Course, Colts Neck.

Throughout the year, volunteers can be found acting as historic site interpreters, serving as trip leaders, and assisting in offices. They also help remove invasive plant species, lead recreation programs, and monitor endangered bird species. Volunteers are integral to the success of the Park System’s therapeutic riding lessons and special events such as Earth Day, Thompson Park Day and Creatures of the Night. The Park System’s Trails Team, a group of volunteers dedicated to building and maintaining over 129 miles of trails, travels throughout the county to assist staff.
