Freehold's Lianah Sta. Ana Charms Crowd at Philippine Independence Reception

The young singer performed at the event held at Monmouth County Library Headquarters.

The Filipino Americans of Monmouth County sponsored a reception at the Monmouth County Library on Wednesday, June 1 to kick off the Filipino Art Exhibit; the exhibit will be on display at the library from June 1 through June 30. The FAMC is made up of approximately 120 Filipino families from Monmouth County.

Eric Aguilos, President of the Filipino Americans of Monmouth County (FAMC), said that the art exhibit is a month-long commemoration of Phillipine Independence Day, which is celebrated on June 12.

The FAMC sponsors between six and seven events a year, the art exhibit and opening reception taking place for the first time at library headquarters in Manalapan.  The reception took place in a meeting room within the library where Filipino art was displayed. The pieces presented at the reception were donated by members of the FAMC. Traditional Filipino food and beverages were served.

A special performance by 11-year-old Lianah Sta. Ana was the highlight of the reception. Sta. Her last performance was at the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers game at Citi Field. Sta. Ana also sang at the NBA Playoffs New York Knicks versus the Boston Celtics game.

Sta. Ana sang two songs at the reception. The first song sung was "At Last" by Etta James and the second song was in the Filipino language of Tagalog. Her first single, "Where is the Love" will be released on iTunes this month.
