Hudson Manor Accommodates Tenants with Updated Facilities.

The 163 unit senior citizen housing facility conveniently located in downtown borough, accommodates its tenants with transportation services and social programs, while continuously updating its facility.

Hudson Manor has been apart of the Freehold Borough community for over 30 years. Opening its doors in 1979, the facility is 6 stories tall and currently houses 178 tenants in studio style and one bedroom apartments. The manor provides hands on care and a variety of beneficial services inside the manor and out while only costing approximately 30% of a senior’s income.

Ron Griffiths, President of Freehold Borough Housing Corporation, describes Hudson Manor as a safe haven for residents. “This facility gives seniors a place to come where they are not only safe, but it is a clean and well run building where they have a lot of social programs available to them,” said Griffiths.

The social programs provided at the manor range from bingo, monthly parties, ceramics, informative coffee hours to monthly Atlantic City Trips, Monmouth Racetrack trips, Point Pleasant trips in the summer, and shows.

Besides the social programs, the manor houses its own laundry facility, store, recreation room, arts and craft room, library and outside patio. However, if tenants would like to get off the property they can easily walk right into downtown freehold or they can go grocery shopping, go to doctors appoints or other places by getting on the facility’s bus.

“You don’t need a vehicle if you live here,” said Griffiths. The manor provides transportation to its tenants as well as other senior citizens and disabled people in the borough. “All people need to do is call the manor and tell us where and when they need to go. It’s a combination of a bus and taxi.”

The manor has upgraded their facility with solar panels and renovated tenant bathrooms. It is also in the process of modernizing its recreation room and investing in a gas generator so that the manor will not lose power during major storms.

Besides the top-notch amenities that come with living at the manor, the staff also plays a key role in keeping the tenants happy. Amy Coughlin, Site Manager, knows exactly how dedicated the staff at the Hudson Manor is. “The staff here goes above and beyond. There are a lot of personal and private things that we take care of.  I feel like we are all one big happy family here,” said Coughlin.

Residents at the manor range in age from 62-years-old to 97-years-old. There are also four apartments rented out to disabled people between the ages of 18 and 49.  For more information about the Hudson Manor call the facility at (732) 431-4880.
