Learning Center Promotes Reading For National Literacy Month

Kumon learning centers are partnering with Reading is Fundamental for National Literacy Month.

In order to celebrate National Literacy Month properly, the learning center franchise Kumon, is partnering with Reading is Fundamental (RIF) for the whole month of March.

Collectively, all Kumons are donating $50,000 to RIF and have agreed to donate four books to RIF for each new student enrollment during March. Each Kumon will also be holding an Open House on March 3.

There are two Freehold Kumons participating in the RIF fundraiser, a Route 9 location and a Mounts Corner Drive location. The Route 9 location is the newer of the two locations. Opening in December, Kumon owner, Sejal Saraiya is using the March Open House as a kick off to the RIF fundraiser and as an introduction to the Freehold community.

Saraiya, a pharmacist by trade, is a new Kumon owner, and stands behind its name as a learning center not just a tutoring facility.

“Kumon has been around for 50 years and has its own method that helps students grow to their full potential individually. The program is individualized to each student and focuses on each student as they progress at their rate not at the school rate.”

The March 3 Open House will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will be complete with a balloon artist, face painting and book readings and will even be having a bake sale for a kids cancer foundation. The Route 9 Kumon location will also be having a book drop off the entire month of March.
