Lost Dog: Marlboro Family Offering a Reward

The Amato family is looking for their lost terrier.

A message from Marlboro resident Laurie Amato:

Douglas is a black and white Rat Terrier and has never ran away before. We live on Crossridge Circle, right off of Ryan Road in Marlboro.

He is probably very scared as he has never ever done this before. He has no collar or microchip.

If anyone finds him please have them call (732) 546 4198. We are devastated. Huge reward if found!

Hi Laurie, Our house cat got out once. We put up flyers and went searching for 5 days. One suggestion was to put his carrier outside with unwashed clothing of the person he sat on or next to most often. I had nothing to lose, so I did it. That night he did find his way back. It may have been a coincidence but I'll always wonder. I really hope your baby comes home. Keeping my eyes open.

Very thankful he is safe. PLEASE-- Take some of the reward $ you were offering and get him collared and micro chipped..

Mike - Unfortunately. Douglas was never found. We searched and searched but no luck finding him. He was 12 years old and was afraid of his own shadow - never went outside. He had just returned from the vet, took his collar off and he ran out of our garage. We think he had a reaction to the rabies shot (which btw- they never should have given him because of his age). Back when we rescued him, micro-chipping was still very new but I agree - now-a-days EVERY dog/cat should have a chip. Being chipped and having tags w/ a collar might save a family from the despair of what we went through. How I wish I could have given someone that reward money!!
