During the summer months Mayor Nolan Higgins used a variety of activities to get residents interested and involved in his Health and Wellness Initiative.
When the weather was warm Higgins held walking tours through the borough, a bike ride into Freehold Township and back and a boating trip on Lake Topanemus. Now that the the weather is getting cooler Mayor Higgins is bringing his goal of helping residents get healthy indoors.
For the past two weeks and continuing forward the mayor is taking part in a “Back to School Means Back to Fitness campaign at the Freehold Borough YMCA. Every Tuesday night from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. free workouts will be available at the Center Street facility. The program includes high energy exercises, introducing residents to the latest fitness technology and more.
The program is open to people of all fitness levels and is free to anyone who wants to take part. It is hosted by Team Beachbody and Coach Patricia Young while being sponsored by the Freehold Recreation Commission as part of the mayor’s program.
This has been an ongoing effort by Mayor Higgins to get as many residents interested in fitness as possible.
