Olde Freehold Day Caps Busy Week

The weather held out to make Freehold Township Day a success and the organizers of Olde Freehold Day will be hoping more the same results at the end of this week. But before the crowds descend on Lake Topanemus Park there is a lot to do in the Township and the Boro this week.

The Freehold Township Planning Board will be holding a special meeting on Monday night at 7:30. The two items on the agenda. The first is an application to convert a 5600 square foot two story building located at 3425 Route 9 North into a four tenant office building. There is also an application by Hyundai located at 4075 Route 9 North to change part of their plans on an application.

The Freehold Borough Council will also be meeting on Monday night and part of their agenda includes renaming the council chambers in honor of Nathaniel Scudder a famous local figure from the Revolutionary War. The council is also scheduled to authorize the purchase of a special services vehicle, a dump truck and a pick-up truck with state contracts.

Also on Monday the Freehold Borough Arts Council will be hosting a fundraiser as part of the Mural Restoration Project. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Park 33 will donate 15 percent of customers bills not including alcohol to the project.

Tuesday night a fundraiser is being held at San Marzano. The event is part of the CentraState Healthcare Foundation Queen Contest in celebration of the 52nd Celebration Ball that will be held in January. A portion of customer’s bills between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. will be donated to the Star and Barry Tobias Women’s Health Center.

Olde Freehold Day is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday with a rain date of Sunday. The day will include pony rides and a children’s zone with the rides being held between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. There will also be a children’s fishing derby and more for everyone to enjoy.
