Rain In the Forecast Leading Up to Independence Day

Much-anticipated fireworks shows are scheduled on days that may see cloudy skies, rain.

Wet weather and cloudy skies are possible in western Monmouth County in coming days, according to the National Weather Service, as of 6:30 a.m. on July 1. 

Here's the outlook: 

Wednesday, July 2: Partly sunny. In the afternoon, the day can be humid with highs in the 90's, and the chance of rain is 40 percent. 

Thursday, July 3: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Heavy rain is possible. Chance of rain is 70 percent. 

Friday, July 4: Rain likely in the morning and afternoon. Temps in the higher 70s. Cloudy skies. Chance of rain is 60 percent. The night may be cloudy, with lows in the mid-60s. 

Weekend, July 5-6: Mostly sunny and clear, with highs in the mid-80s both days.
