Registration Now Open for Township Summer Camp

Freehold residents and non-residents can register for Freehold Township's Summer Camp from Feb. 1 until June 25.

It may only be February, but the Freehold Township Parks and Recreation Commission have their summer plans in order with registration for Freehold Township Summer Camp beginning today.

Starting on June 25, the seven week program provides children 4 to 14-years-old with private camp amenities without the private camp price tag.

“Our camp is as close to being a private camp without a pool and horseback riding as you can get,” explained Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, Sue McGough. “The beauty about all of these amenities is that zero tax dollars went to them. The Parks and Recreation Commission funded them out of their trust account.”

The camp is held at the which boasts four tennis courts, three sand volleyball courts, a pavilion, 16 four-square courts, a dodge ball court, and two splash pads. The camp also has multiple celebrations during the summer session including an evening talent show, Freedom Fest, and an end of summer party.

The 2012 summer will mark a first for the long time running Freehold Township Summer Camp by opening the facility up to non-residents. According to McGough, in past years, the camp was open to non-residents that worked in Freehold. With a positive response to past years, a top-notch camp staff and great facility, the commission has decided to offer surrounding town residents an opportunity to attend Township’s camp for an additional cost.

“Cost for our camp is not on par with a private camp, it is substantially cheaper. It gives parents a little more flexibility where if the children decide they want to go to the beach for the day instead of attending camp they are not losing that much money,” explained McGough.

During the summer, the camp will run daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Morning care and Aftercare are also available for an additional cost. Morning care begins at 7 a.m. and Aftercare goes from the end of camp until 6 p.m. There are three tiers of registration including Earlybird, regular and late. The earlier you register, the cheaper the camp costs. Earlybird registration begins Feb. 1 and goes until March 30. For more information on summer camp prices please click here.
