Senior Safety Seminar Series Scheduled

Police, borough officials holding info session on predatory scams often targeting seniors

Members of the police and Borough Council have set the dates of several informational seminars for senior citizens aimed at raising awareness of various scams and protecting seniors from predatory practices.

Police Chief Glenn Roberts, Lt. Michael Sweetman and Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer will be hosting a series of seminars focusing on telephone scams, handling telemarketers, home and personal safety, identity theft and dealing with contractors, Roberts said.

The following dates have been set:

  • 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the Rugmill Towers community center.
  • 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16 at the Hudson Manor apartments' community room.
  • 10 a.m.Tuesday, May 21,  at the Monmouth Court apartments' community room.
  • 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at the Freehold Borough Courtroom, next to the Police station.
