The fog advisory lifted at noon, but the fog stayed ... until it gave way to rain.

Patchy, gray, dense air continued to cover much of New Jersey on Friday, limiting visibility on roads and making the beaches disappear along the Jersey Shore ... before it gave way to rain.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly issued dense fog advisory for the much of the state Friday.

The NWS identified the following areas that should be noted:

* Visibilities...one quarter mile or less at times.

* Timing...areas of dense fog will occur this morning, then improvements to the visibility should occur from south to north as a warm front moves through toward the midday hours.

* Impacts...significant restrictions in the visibility will make traveling difficult, especially during this mornings commute.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to one quarter mile or less. If driving, slow down, use your low beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.

Watch the above video to see how fog is clouding all that can be seen with the naked eye in Ocean City.
