Wolf Seen on South Street in Freehold!

Wolf Seen on South Street in Freehold!

There have been recent reports of a wolf seen in the parking lot behind Center Playhouse at 35 South Street.  Drivers passing Freehold’s resident community theater on the corner of South and Mechanic Streets reacted with surprise and disbelief when they spotted a wolf in the rear parking lot near the theater’s stage door!

Local wildlife specialists assured us that wolves have not been in the Freehold area in over 100 hundred years and residents should not be concerned.  However, a recent sighting of the alleged wolf chasing a girl in a red cape prompted an immediate call to Center Players’ President, Bernice Garfield-Szita, who confirmed that there has indeed been a wolf visiting Center Playhouse over the past several weeks!

In an interview wearing a grandma’s costume, Garfield-Szita revealed, “There are also three little pigs, a woodsman, and a whole cast of characters, including the girl in the red cape, rehearsing for our summer children’s show, The Musical Adventures of Horatio Wolf and Little Red!”

This whimsical play is directed by Leslie Hochman of Old Bridge.  The Musical Director Ray Ruiz of Monroe wrote the lyrics and score.  The show features Sami DeSocio (Holmdel), Zach Berman (Tinton Falls), David Clarke (South River), Dina Agranovsky (Freehold), Doriane Feinstein (East Windsor), Calista Amrell and Nicole Sollazzo (Howell), Francesca Alexander and Bernice Garfield-Szita (Manalapan) and Jake Hollander (Eatontown).

The familiar fairytale characters dressed in fanciful costumes will sing and dance their way through a magical forest created by artist Richard Berger of Morganville.  Audiences of all ages from 3 to 103 are sure to be thrilled and delighted as the cast interacts with them and draws them into the story.

Center Players’ staff said no animals were harmed during the production of this show and no pigs or children will be eaten during the performances.  Parents and grandparents are still advised to keep their children close as they walk to their cars after the show.

The Musical Adventures of Horatio Wolf and Little Red runs for only two weekends at Center Playhouse, located at 35 South Street in downtown Freehold, on Saturdays August 11th and 18th at 1:00 PM & 4:00 PM and Sundays August 12th and 19th at 2:00 PM.  Tickets are $14 for Adults and $10 for Children (ages 3-12) and includes light refreshments.  Group rates for parties of ten or more are available.  Seating is limited so call the box office at (732) 462-9093 or visit us online at www.CenterPlayers.org to reserve your seats.
