Freehold Public Library Hosts Teen Art Auction

Art enthusiasts have the opportunity to purchase original art starting at 25 cents!

The will host their first Teen Art Silent Auction at the library on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

The auction will feature original art created by local children and teens. The Teen Library Committee (TLC) came up with the idea for the fundraiser.

The TLC has been an active group at the library for the past 5 years. “The Teen Library Committee is a group of 6th-graders through high school, which meets at the Library approximately monthly,” explained Kathy Mulholland, senior library assistant. “The main goal is to give this age-set a place and identification with the library.”

According to Kathy Mulholland, the committee is made up of local students. “The core group consists of students from Freehold Intermediate, St. Rose of Lima, and Freehold High School,” she explained.

The money raised through the auction will go right back to the children through the library. “Any money raised will be just be given to the Friends of the Library, which has always been steadfast in supporting the children's programs at the library and the library in general,” explained Mulholland. “They recently purchased a new printer for the Children's Room.”

The event is free and open to the public.
