When & where: Friday, Aug. 5 from noon to midnight at the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown

Why you should go: The Monmouth County SPCA is looking to beat its goal of 50 adoptions in 12 hours. Adoption fees will be waived for adult pets over four months, though a donation should be made. All adopters will receive a pet swag bag. Stop by between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. for milk and cookies. Wear your pajamas after 9 p.m. for a special gift.

What does it cost: Free to attend, donations requested

When & where: Sunday, Aug. 7 from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Turkey Swamp Park

Why you should go: The Turkey Swamp Park Archery Range will hold a non-instructional open-shoot program for ages 8 years and above. (Adults must accompany minors.) All equipment will be provided.

What does it cost: $5 per person, cash or check

When & where: Thursday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Aug. 5 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 6 from noon to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 7 from noon to 8 p.m.

Why you should go: The 17th annual Clamfest features every kind of clam from fried to steamed to stuffed. A variety of other seafood, as well as landlubber options will also be available. The event also features a wine and beer garden, live entertainment, dancing, games, rides a clam-shucking event, and more.

What does it cost: Free admission and parking

When & where: Friday, Aug. 5 and Saturday, Aug. 6 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Matawan

Why you should go: Enjoy a night of theater and 1980s music without having to leave the county. The Spotlight Players will put on the popular musical based on the Adam Sandler film.

What does it cost: $18, $15 for students and seniors over 65
