Historic House Tour Slated for Saturday

The Freehold Borough Arts Council will feature art work and live music at the McDonnell house.

The Freehold Borough Historical Preservation Commission is holding its third annual Historic House Tour Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The McDonnell house is one of eight unique Freehold Borough homes open to the public during the tour. The Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) will convert the home into a gallery featuring art, live music and exhibits.

“Providing art and music will be an added attraction for people who are coming here to see the town’s beautiful homes,” said Jeff Friedman, a member of the FBAC and the Freehold Borough Historic Preservation Commission.

The FBAC’s display will feature works of art from several local organizations including the ARC of Monmouth County, champions of artists with disabilities, and the Freehold Art Society. Works from local artists and FBAC members include oil paintings by Richard Berger and water colors produced by Wally Zuber.

In addition, Stillwell House Antiques of Manalapan will showcase a collection by famous American painter Leon Dabo (1865-1960) as well as provide works of New Jersey artist and FBAC affiliate Anthony Migliaccio.

FBAC member musicians, including David Singer & CJ, Lisa Jones, Jeff & Elaine, Sal Aversanao, and Astronaut Jones, will perform throughout the day.

“We really have to thank the Historic House Tour committee for including the FBAC in its efforts. This house tour is a terrific way to show off the borough’s historic legacy and the FBAC is always happy to partner with local groups in support of their initiatives,” FBAC President Neal Girandola said.

Tickets cost $25 per person and are currently on sale at Borough Hall and Homeland Remax, 26 E. Main St. Tickets will also be available at the McDonnell house, 97 W. Main St. on the day of the tour. Tickets must be purchased prior to visiting the homes on the tour. All proceeds go to the Freehold Borough Preservation Commission.
