Legends of Rock Concert Series Schedule Announced

John Ford Coley, Ambrosia, Terry Sylvester and Denny Laine are slated to perform.

Downtown Freehold, the area’s business partnership, announced Monday that the Legends of Rock concert series will return to Freehold in September for a second year.

The series is sponsored by Downtown Freehold and the Monmouth Academy of Music and will take place each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Hall of Records building on Main Street.

Pop and rock artists who dominated the radio waves in the 1960s and 1970s will take the stage during the series.

Terry Sylvester, formerly of The Hollies, will play Sept. 21. Sylvester’s work can be heard on such hits as "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother," "Long Dark Road," "The Air that I Breathe," and "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress."

Denny Laine will be on stage Sept. 28. The songwriter-singer-guitarist was a co-founder of The Moody Blues and Paul McCartney & Wings.

"My band and I have worked closely with these musicians for awhile, and can promise that people will really enjoy an evening of legendary music and some other special songs as well," said Joe Orlando, founder of The Cryers and founder of Monmouth Academy of Musical Arts, Morganville. "This is also a unique presentation that intermingles their hit songs and some fan favorite-originals that we do."
