Find the Right Local Gym for Your New Years Resolution

Planning on getting back in shape in 2012 but don’t know where to join? Here is a list of local Freehold Gyms, their pricing, amenities and schedules.

If your New Years Resolution has something to do with getting into shape in 2012 here is a list of Freehold gyms and their services that can best help you reach your fitness goals. 

The facility in Freehold is filled with state-of-the-art equipment.  Complete with a movie theater filled will three rows of cardio equipment, smoothie bar, tanning beds, locker room and stretching room Retro Fitness has everything needed to get a complete workout. There are also packages that include personal training. They even have babysitting on site. Most of their cardio equipment has TV’s attached to them to make working out a little more entertaining. 

Retro Fitness is open Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.  On the weekends Retro is open from 7:00 a.m until 5:00 p.m.

The packages that Retro Fitness offers range from one year to two years and include basic membership to memberships that include smoothies, tanning and even virtual classes. The cheapest of the packages is their basic package that costs $99 enrollment fee, $29.99 processing fee, and then $19.99 for the first month. Work Out World (WOW) of Freehold is the checkerboard building right off of Route 9. The facility offers an open architecture with unique alcoves and overlooks. It has a private ladies only workout area, and has over 23,000 square feet of fun fitness with group training classes, group cycling, snack/juice bar, babysitting, private locker rooms, a boxing zone, cardio equipment, stretching room and much more.

The basic membership of WOW costs $149 down and $9.97 a month after that. The basic membership entitles you to access all of the equipment at your home gym. To become a VIP membership it will still cost you $149 down but will cost you an additional $19.97 a month. Although VIP costs more, it will include classes, unlimited babysitting, equipment at any of the gyms for you and a friend, unlimited tanning at any WOW facility and allow you to work out at any of the WOW facilities. Some of the classes offered at WOW are boot camp, cycling, yoga, cardio ball and much more. WOW is open seven days a week, Monday through Thursday the gym is open from 5:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Friday, it opens at 5:00a.m. and closes at 10:00 a.m. Saturday WOW is open from 7 a.m. until  7:00 p.m. and on Sunday it is open from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Classes are offered everyday at all WOW locations. 

The CentraState Fitness and Wellness Center is a state-of-the-art facility located on West Main Street.  The center offers amenities like babysitting, pools, (jr. Olympic Pool, spa pool, therapy Pool) a sauna and steamroom, over 170 classes a week including Group Power, Zumba, group ride, boxing, aqua aerobics and much more, and a variety of cardio equipment and weighted machines.  CentraState even offers educational programs as well. 

The center is open Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.  On the weekends, CentraState is open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

There are two types of memberships at CentraState, there are Trial Memberships and Executive Memberships.  Membership prices are handled at the facility but for more information on this facility check out their website.

The also offers a great work out facility to get in shape in the New Year. As a YMCA member, you receive free summer swim club, spin, fitness and aquatic exercise classes, towel service, babysitting and racquetball. The gym offers multiple indoor pools, steam pools, sauna, cardio theater, climate controlled basketball court, climbing wall, outdoor tennis courts and sand volleyball courts, and other fitness equipment. 

You also receive guest privileges at more than 2,000 YMCA’s around the country and no contract or cancellation penalties. There are also babysitting services and youth programs memberships so that whole family can get healthy together at the YMCA.

Each section of the Freehold YMCA has its own hours of operation but overall, the facility is open Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., on Saturday’s from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Sunday’s from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

is located at 200 Daniel’s Way in Freehold. The facility has a spin room, exercise classroom for classes like yoga, boot camp, turbo kick and more, locker rooms, Pilates machines, weighted machines, cardio equipment, free weights, basketball court, tanning, pro shop, sauna, massage and juice bar. 

By becoming an Elite Fitness member, you are able to work out at both the Freehold facility or at the Manalapan facility. There is a lifetime guarantee that your monthly dues will never increase. Membership prices are not discussed on Elite Fitness’ website, however you can try out the gym with a free two week pass by filling out this form.

Elite Fitness is open Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., Friday from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Saturday, the facility is open from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m

Retro is by far the best. I've tried Elite and WOW as we'll but pricing is the best and the staff are definitely the friendliest.
