Guadagno Promotes Downtown Business On Freehold Tour

Standing in her shop on Main Street in downtown Freehold Marlene Rogala said she has always been proud to be part of the borough's history.
Especially For You has been an anchor of the downtown area for "only 37 years, Rogala said with a laugh. A picture of a visit from Bruce Springsteen hangs on the wall and on Thursday the store got a visit from Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno.
The tour not only served as a chance to promote downtown businesses for Guadagno, but was also a homecoming of sorts for the former Monmouth County Sheriff.
Rogala said she was glad to be able to share her story and her store with her honored guest. "We love being in a downtown area," she said. "We have people from all walks here. They can walk to us because we are located downtown."
Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer said it was good to have Guadagno back in town to show her some of the newest and oldest businesses in the area. "Nice little towns are few and far between in New Jersey, and it's refreshing," she said. "I think it's refreshing for her to be giving attention to the downtown area."
Monmouth County Freeholder John Curley said he believed it was important to see the state administration working to help businesses on the storm ravaged shore and also in places like freehold. "It goes a long way and I'm just thankful that we have an administration that's cognizant of where the dollars come from and it's Main Street.
