Insurance Agency Strives to Prevent Turkey Crisis

Roberta Fallon and her staff at in downtown Freehold have one request of their friends, neighbors, clients and fellow downtown business owners this holiday season: help the agency insure against a turkey crisis at the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties this holiday season.” To assist in that plea, the Leigh Insurance Agency will be sponsoring an in-office Food Drive during the month of December to benefit the FoodBank.

Fallon became aware of the severity of the turkey shortage facing the FoodBank while attending an Insurance Women of Monmouth County event held at the FoodBank, and with further conversations with FoodBank Director of Development, Linda Keenan.   

 “I have always known about the thousands of turkeys the FoodBank distributes during the holidays, but when Linda pointed out the crisis they were facing, it just never dawned on me that there could be a shortage,” said Fallon.

Agency owners since 1990 and long time supporters of local pantries, Fallon and her husband hope that by sponsoring a food drive in their agency it will encourage others to give just a little to the many people who need it. 

“So many times folks want to contribute and just don’t know how, by putting a drop off box in our office, everyone can give just a little to serve many,” Fallon said. 

The Leigh Insurance Agency does not have the means to take in turkeys, but they have plenty of space to take in all of the fixings like non-perishable canned goods, instant potatoes, stuffing mix and more.
