Midnight Madness Coming to Black Friday Festivities

Some stores opening as early as 6 p.m. on Thursday

For some people Midnight Madness means the start of the college basketball season but this year it also marks the start of the holiday shopping season at places like the Freehold Raceway Mall and the Jackson Premium Outlets. Black Friday will start on Thanksgiving for many local stores at the two locations and others around the area.

Freehold Raceway Mall will officially open at midnight on Friday with some shops opening as early as 8 p.m. on Thursday night. The event will also feature appearances by local radio stations and specials throughout the mall. Most of the major department stores including Macy’s, JCPenney and Sears will all open at 8 as will Dick’s Sporting Goods. Others like Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works will wait until 11 p.m. to open their doors to customers.

At the Jackson Outlets some stores will open as early as 6 p.m. including Izod and Van Heusen while Ecko Unlimited will welcome customers at 7 p.m. The bulk of the shops will open at 8 p.m. with Corningware the last to open at 11 p.m. The outlets will also have special hours throughout the rest of the weekend before starting their holiday hours on Monday.
