Readers' Choice: Vote for the Best Music Act

Patch readers nominated their favorites, so vote to determine which one is the Readers’ Choice 2012 winner.

Who are the best music acts in the area? Cast your vote to let us know.

Patch is relaunching its Readers’ Choice program and we’re asking you, your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and anyone else who knows about the area to participate.

Nominations were accepted on various Central New Jersey Patch site through July 9 and include:

Winners in all Readers' Choice categories will be announced on Aug. 24.

The poll opened July 23 and closed Aug. 17.

How do you define where a band is from? The Nerds play many gigs in Central NJ, and the lead singer, Spazz, lives around the corner from me in Freehold.

Any list without BOB BURGER is grossly incomplete. He is an awesome guitar player, vocalist, and song writer. Who else can say they have played alongside Paul McCartney, Jon BonJovi, Billy Joel, jimmy Buffet, and Roger Waters....all on the same night. Bob plays all over Monmouth County doing original music and covers. His gigs range from acoustic solo performances, to acoustic duets with the incredible Jimmy Leahey, to 6 piece electric band shows. Bob has put together many "tribute" shows at McCloone's Supper Club. If you haven't seen Bob perform, you don't know what you're missing. My vote is for BOB BURGER.

I cannot figure how to vote maybe this doesn't work from cell phone and I have no computer. But I would just like to say I vote for BILLY SIMMONS!! He is one of the most soulful singer/guitarists that I know and when he plays live I can see the amazment on faces around the bar because you can feel that he puts every bit of himself into performing. Please choose Billy Simmons he deserves this! =]

I think there is something wrong. Either the good life is cheating or the site is broken. How can you go from 110 to 135 in two minutes? I voted for billy simmons and bam, the good life gained 20 votes.

With just hours left before voting ends, each band could be asking their fans for that extra push at the last minute. It is very possible that 30 people voted in a matter of minutes.
