Deanna Sperling, M.A.S., R.N., C.N.A., B.C., chief operating officer, Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network, was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Central Jersey Blood Center (CJBC), one of the premier blood centers in New Jersey.
As a board member, Sperling, who has more than 30 years of experience in health care as a registered nurse – with more than 15 years as chief nursing officer in acute and behavioral health settings – will help oversee CJBC’s operations.
In her role as chief operating officer at Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network, New Jersey's largest integrated system of behavioral health care, Sperling is responsible for the development and enhancement of a full continuum of behavioral health services throughout six medical centers and a freestanding psychiatric hospital in Toms River. Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center is an acute care psychiatric facility providing inpatient and intensive outpatient programs for adults and older adults with psychiatric and dual disorders.
Sperling is the immediate past president for the Organization of Nurse Executives of New Jersey and is a member of American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and American Nurses Association (ANA). She is a resident of Howell.
CJBC was founded more than 40 years ago with a vision to provide an adequate, high quality and safe supply of blood, blood products and other related services to meet the needs of area hospitals. Blood donated at the Jersey Blood Center helps treat premature babies, burn and trauma victims, patients suffering from leukemia and other cancers, cardiac disease, and many other conditions that depend on blood products for recovery. Approximately 65 percent of the blood supply comes from mobile blood drive locations sponsored by area businesses, communities, schools, and other organizations. Individuals can also contribute at CJBC’s blood donor centers in Toms River, Howell and Shrewsbury. For more information on CJBC, visit CJBCblood.org or call 732-842-5750.
