College visits and information sessions are great venues during which a student should ask questions. It is best to be prepared ahead of time, since most information sessions are time-restricted and others at the sessions may also have questions. Answers to many common questions may be found on the college’s website, or in most college information books. Most basic information, such as application criteria and cost of attendance, are also provided either in the information session or in literature that will be provided at the time of the information session. Additional questions that students and families may want to ask may include the following:
1. Are there any new majors?
2. Are there any majors that are unique to this college? (For example, NJIT has a Concrete Industry Management program.)
3. Are the admission criteria different for each major?
4. How difficult is it to change majors? Are there any majors that I cannot transfer into after my first year?
5. Is study abroad available? Is it available in every major?
6. Are there additional requirements needed on my application to apply to the honors program?
7. Do I have to apply separately for scholarships?
8. Are double majors across disciplines available? (Fashion Design/Business)
9. What do students do on the weekends here?
10. Is there any advantage to applying Early Action (EA) or Early Decision (ED)?
11. Is scholarship/grant money distributed differently to those who apply EA or ED?
12. Are there job opportunities on or near campus?
13. Are internships/co-ops required/available for each major?
14. What companies recruit students from this school?
