Freehold Borough Democratic Primary Election: The Games People Play…

Observations from Freehold...

In my continued quest to secure one of the two open seats in Freehold
Borough’s first contested Democratic Primary Election in over 37 years,
I've observed three things:

  1. Woodrow Wilson's famous quote, "If you want to make enemies, try to change something", is extremely accurate
  2. People have become more apt to ostracize the squeaky wheel as opposed to oiling it. (I've read of times when independent critical analyzes were welcomed and valued. Clearly those times are gone.)
  3. Whenever the subject of politics is broached, most voters either display zealot-like allegiance to a particular political party or complete apathy & bitterness toward the entire subject matter.

As a result, attempts to articulate my positions have been met with cynical
comments from a few individuals trolling the internet posting distortions &
mistruths about me or my beliefs under fake monikers (such as "WLisa"
or "Ben Dover") in efforts to disrupt my campaign. However if I've learned
anything over the past 5 weeks, it's that I need to grow a thick skin,
always take the high-road (no matter how tough), stay true to my ideals,
and never – ever – quit.

That said, I'd like to announce the launch of a new website
(www.XavierForBoroughCouncil.com) I put together so people can learn
more about me, my experience, my positions on a variety of topics, and
about my campaign. I'll also be using this forum to continue posting my
ongoing Freehold Borough Resident Questions "ask/answer" dialog, so
make sure to check back weekly.

Sincerely,

Dan Xavier
