IRS Announces Saturday Open House to Aid Super Storm Sandy Victims

IRS Announces Saturday Open House to Aid Super Storm Sandy Victims in New Jersey and New York on February 23rd

NEWARK, DE ­­­- Internal Revenue Service Taxpayer Assistance Centers in some New Jersey and New York locations will be open Saturday, February 23rd from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to provide help to taxpayers impacted by Super Storm Sandy.

Individuals who have questions about the tax treatment of Sandy payments or losses or who are experiencing filing or payment hardships because of the storm will be able to work directly with IRS personnel.

Special services provided will include assistance with IRS Notices, tax debt, tax liens help with current year tax return preparation, tax law questions, return transcripts and more. Tax return preparation will be limited to Forms1040EZ, 1040A, 1040 and Schedules A, B, C-EZ, EIC, L, M, R, SE and income of $51,000 or less. However, this income limitation is waived if casualty loss criteria is met.

 

Saturday February 23rd Special Assistance Open House:

The Special Assistance Open House from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23rd will be held at the following locations.

New Jersey

Newark – 20 Washington Place, Newark 07102

New York

Brooklyn –  2 Metro Tech Center, 100 Myrtle Avenue, Brooklyn 11201

Queens – 59-17 Junction Boulevard, Rego Park 11368

Downtown Manhattan – 290 Broadway, New York 10007

Bethpage – 999 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage 11714

Midtown Manhattan – 110 West 44th Street New York 10035

 

In addition several IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers offices will offer extended hours during the month February to further assist affected taxpayers.

The following locations will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the month of February:
